Due to business growth, we're now recruiting an apprentice carpet fitter/floor layer with an immediate start. This is a 4 Year apprenticeship and includes NICF (National Institute of Carpet and Floorlayers) certificate and registration on the national register, with first aid at work certification.

Training takes place on the job under the supervision of an experienced fitter.
Responsibilities and training will include:
• Fitting gripper and installing Carpet underlay
• Eventually assisting in cutting and laying carpets / floor coverings including vinyls, and luxury vinyl tiles.
• Sub-floor preparations including plywood and smoothing compounds
• Installation of door bars and thresholds
• Occasional uplift of old floor coverings and removal of furniture to clear the workspace
• Responsible for bagging up any waste material, vacuuming and general tidiness after installation.
• Assisting in loading and unloading van for daily work, and some stock management.
• Any other ad hoc tasks
Skills required:
• Practical skills, enjoy working with hands and using tools. Previous joinery experience would be a strong advantage.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately, to a very high standard
• Due to the nature of this role and materials you will handle, this does involve regular heavy lifts.
• Good numerical skills to work with measurements and CAD plans
• Confident, polite and friendly demeanour as this is a customer facing role
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• A good standard of physical fitness
• Full UK Driving License is an advantage.
• Reliable, trustworthy and punctuality are essential
Maximum average 40 hours per week Monday to Friday (there maybe days where you will finish early, and other days later).
The position will be based out of Chacefield in Denny, this would suit a local school leaver or someone who wishes to re-train in a new career/industry.
SALARY - National minimum wage while training. Wage will increase Annually or with experience proportionally.
Driving license preferred but not essential.
